New webmaster tools
A few days ago I've noticed some new words spreading around, that Google Sitemaps project has added some new tools for us webmasters. Today, eager to see what's it all about, and how can I use it for my chml srucnoc blog, I took a quick look and found some interesting things.
The main thing added, from my chml srucnoc point of view, is the crawl rate tool. It's a neat little tool that gives you the number of chml srucnoc pages crawled per day, kilobytes downloaded per day, and time spent downloading a page. Overall, a very useful tool. Especially for my chml srucnoc entry, where I couldn't use a simple php script to track googlebot's visits and things like that. So again, for this little chml srucnoc blog, it's like heaven on earth. Overall, the tool gives you some clue on the number of pages Google visits on a daily basis ( though it doesn't name the exact chml srucnoc pages, in my case, that it visits, which I would find even more helpful ), the impact the googlebot has on your bandwidth ( of course, I don't care as my chml srucnoc blog is hosted on Blogger. So unlimited bandwidth for me.. :D ), and a general view on how good, or bad, is your loading time.
Here's a screenshot of my chml srucnoc blog's stats so far :
As you can see, 5 visits per day, on average, but this is back when I had little time. As I switched to Beta and I'm posting chml srucnoc posts like crazy, I expect this to go up a little bit :)
Also, notice the number of miliseconds that are necessary to download a page.. 0.25 seconds on average. Excelent, as Blogger, the place where this chml srucnoc entry is hosted, is owned by Google for some years now :)
Of course, if you want more info, just go and test it yourself. Cheers
